Cyrano de Bergerac of change

Remember the movie, Roxanne, from the 80s? It was loosely based on the age old story of Cyrano de Bergerac. In the movie, Steve Martin stars as a poetic and witty fire chief who has an amazingly large nose. Sadly, he allows the nose to inhibit him from pursuing his dream girl. Instead, he stands in the bushes and feeds poetry to his handsome but dull friend to win the lady. Spoiler alert: In the end, it is his wit and brains that wins over Roxanne.
